Admission Bulletin ∣ The Undergraduate Admission Interview of Class 2019 for the School of Microelectronics Well Completed

On the evening of September 14, the undergraduate admission interview for Class 2019 of School of Microelectronics was held as scheduled, and our college successfully completed the "1 + 3" admission interview of Class 2019. As of September 13, 2020, there are about 100 students of Class 2019 of Southern University of Science and Technology who have applied for School of Microelectronics through the educational administration system of our college. The candidates are all excellent and outstanding.

Based on a comprehensive assessment of the comprehensive quality of the candidates and in line with the principles of voluntariness, fairness and impartiality, our college selects undergraduates for microelectronics major through interview. This interview focuses on the evaluation of several aspects of students, such as comprehensive quality, professional quality, understanding ability and adaptability, innovative thinking, psychological quality, professional intention, learning plan, etc. The interviews were conducted in four groups at the same time. After review and appraisal by the Admissions Committee Meeting, candidates were ranked and admitted based on the descending order of their total scores. As a result, a total of 63 students were admitted.

Interview 

In order to perform well in the undergraduate admission of Class 2019 students for microelectronics major, our college has successively held 9 admission seminars and open day activities. In order to attract high-quality undergraduate students, Professor Yu Hongyu, the dean, Associate Professor Yu Hao, the deputy dean, Associate Professor Wang Fei, An Fengwei and other academic professionals are also active in the front line of the seminars, introducing School of Microelectronics and microelectronics as a major to students. SUSTech's 2019 undergraduates showed great interest in microelectronics, and nearly 800 people have attended seminars. On July 20, at the professional navigation seminar held by the Admissions Office of Southern University of Science and Technology, the online seminar of Microelectronics School attracted 29,600 people to watch.

Since the establishment, School of Microelectronics has taken talent training as the core work, and the whole college attaches great importance to the cultivation of undergraduates. Although the college was established just in recent years, the undergraduate cultivation work has begun to show good results. Up till now, the college has cultivated a total of 95 undergraduate students from Class 2017 and 2018, and has won 46 awards in various competitions. In the 2019 National Electronic Design Competition, our students won 1 national second prize, 3 provincial second prize and 4 provincial third prize; In the Aircraft Challenge Competition, our students won one national first prize and two second prize; In Huawei ICT Competition and International Autonomous Intelligent Robot Competition, our students won the third prize; In the National Undergraduate FPGA Innovation Design Competition, our students won the third prize; The college has undertaken 3 national, 4 provincial and 15 university level innovation and entrepreneurship projects for students. Besides, we have 6 Climbing Programs of Guangdong Province; 13 academic papers have been published, including academic papers published in JCR District I journals and first-class conferences, etc.; 7 invention patents, 2 utility models and 1 international PCT, including 2 authorized patents.
