On September 22, the 2025 class of the "Innovators Under 35" Asia Pacific list was grandly announced in Shanghai. Assistant Professor Yuanjing Lin from the School of Microelectronics at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was selected.

Assistant Professor Yuanjing Lin was recognized for her development of novel nanomembranes and interpenetrating interfaces that enhance the performance of micro-nano sensors, enabling long-term continuous monitoring of bodily fluids.

Her research primarily focuses on nanomaterial innovations for wearable and printable electronics, micro-nano structured sensors, energy storage devices, and their applications in integrated flexible systems.

Based on her understanding of electrochemical materials engineering, she and her team have designed novel nanoporous membranes and interpenetrating interfaces. Using dendritic nanostructured sensor electrodes, they have developed electrochemical biosensors that achieve both high sensitivity and high stability. These sensors effectively improve the monitoring sensitivity for micromolar-level biomarkers such as glucose and alcohol in sweat and other bodily fluids, enabling continuous monitoring for up to 30 hours.

For personal health monitoring applications, she has developed two types of integrated biosensing systems. One is a self-powered sensor system integrated on a single flexible substrate via printable additive manufacturing. The other is a wristband system that integrates multifunctional modules on a single piece of textile to achieve wireless epidermal biosensing. These flexible sensing systems can enable reliable wireless dietary monitoring or medical intervention through epidermal analysis, potentially providing a new paradigm for the development of wearable devices for smart medical applications.
