SUSTech Associate Professors win SZ Science and Technology Award for Young Scientist

On January 2, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Associate Professor Wang Fei (School of Microelectronics) and Associate Professor Gu Meng (Department of Materials Science and Engineering) both received Shenzhen Youth Science and Technology Awards. Associate Professor Wang Fei received the 2018 Award, while Associate Professor Gu Meng received the 2019 Award.

The Shenzhen Science and Technology Award for Young Scientist rewards young science and technology scholars under the age of 35 in Shenzhen that make outstanding contributions to a national innovation city in Shenzhen. 7 of the 16 winners of the 2018 and 2019 came from universities and scientific research institutions.

Associate Professor Wang Fei is studying micro-nano energy harvesting technology, micro-nano gas sensors, and micro-nano probe technology for self-powered equipment. He has presided over 12 research projects, including an FTP project in Denmark, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Ministry of Education (MOE), Guangdong Province, and Shenzhen City. He has published more than 70 SCI academic papers, of which three have been selected as SCI cover articles, and one was chosen as an ESI highly cited paper. His papers have been cited more than 1,000 times by academic journals, including Science.

Associate Professor Gu Meng is investigating energy materials. His research fields include researching batteries based on in-situ transmission electron microscopy, synthesis and mechanism analysis of high-performance all-solid-state cells, and catalysts for in-situ transmission electron microscopy. He has published 130 English papers in internationally renowned academic journals, and Google Scholar has cited him more than 7,600 times. Among them, ESI has cited nearly 5000 citations and 9 highly cited papers. After joining SUSTech, he published more than 50 articles and submitted 8 patent applications. Associate Professor Gu Meng has won the Albert Crewe Award from the Microscopy Society of America.
