On the afternoon of September 28, the ceremony of storage and packaging equipment donation of Shenzhen Longsys Electronics Co., Ltd. (Longsys) and Orient Semiconductor Electronics Ltd. (OSE) to the School of Microelectronics, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech SEM) was held in Longsys Zhongshan Storage Industrial Park. The two companies donated a complete set of storage and packaging equipment worth nearly US$ 2 million to SUSTech SEM. This set of equipment, which can realize the whole process operation from wafer grinding, cutting, wire bonding to packaging, is used for the scientific research of 3D integration and packaging by the SUSTech SEM.

The donation ceremony was attended by representatives of the donors, including Chairman Cai Huabo, Senior Vice President Li Zhixiong and Senior Vice President Zhang Xu of Longsys, Chairman Du Shaoyao and General Manager Dong Yueming of OSE, Deputy General Manager Ye Xunlong of Silicon Motion, and General Manager Tai Wei of ChinaFlashMarket, as well as Dean Yu Hongyu, Vice Dean Zhou Shengming, Assistant Dean Zhang Guobiao, Professor Guo Yuejin and faculty representatives Ye Huaiyu, An Fengwei, Chen Quan and Li Xiaxi of the School of Microelectronics, SUSTech.

He expressed the hope to take this donation as an opportunity to further promote the cooperation between the school and the enterprises, as well as to help the school achieve more outstanding results in teaching and scientific research.

Mr. Cai Huabo, Chairman of Longsys, said in his speech that Longsys takes root in storage to be connected with universities. Through in-depth cooperation with the School of Microelectronics, SUSTech to open up "integration of industry and teaching for joint talent fostering”, it can help the students to combine theory with practice. The hope is to cultivate more outstanding talent in microelectronics in the shortest time possible.

Zhou Shengming, Vice Dean of the School of Microelectronics, extended appreciation to the donors for their kind support to the school and introduced the faculty of the school to them. He said that all of the young teachers introduced by the school have experience studying or working abroad and possess expertise in scientific research. The donated storage and packaging equipment will make positive contributions to the smooth development of the school’s scientific research.

Later, Professor Zhang Guobiao, Professor Guo Yuejin, Senior Vice President Li Zhixiong of Longsys and Deputy General Manager Ye Xunlong of Silicon Motion shared their research fields and areas of focus respectively.
It is said that besides the donation of the equipment, Longsys will also carry out in-depth cooperation with the Southern University of Science and Technology in fields such as advanced storage, intelligent storage, storage control, final testing, product testing, and more. At the same time, Longsys will set up the Longsys Corporate Scholarship to encourage and support students to carry out useful scientific researches. Additionally, it will help to set up corporate tutorial courses, recommend high-end experts in the field of storage and packaging to give lessons at SUSTech, provide more internship and practice opportunities, as well as jointly set up postgraduate courses on storage. Talent in storage technology will also be trained in a targeted way to contribute to the continuous development of China's storage industry.
