SME SUSTech - Arm China Joint Laboratory for the Design of Advanced Chips

In November 2018, Southern University of Science and Technology signed a cooperation agreement with Arm Technology (China) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Arm China) to co-build an SUS Tech - Arm China Joint Laboratory for the Design of Advanced Chips. The Joint Laboratory was built with the major support of the internationalized, high-standard academic team and substantial scientific research power of the SME SUSTech and Arm China's R&D strength on the design of core applied technology in digital products.

The Joint Laboratory has introduced the most up-to-date technologies of Arm China into teaching, experiments and research for more professors and teachers to have quick access to and command of relevant technologies. It has provided educators, students and researchers with teaching materials, hardware platforms, software development tools, IP and resources. Meanwhile, the interactive online courses and teaching materials could enable two sides to draw upon advantages from each other.

With the Joint Laboratory established, the advantageous resources of the SME SUSTech and Arm China can be fully integrated and exploited, the university can do better in discipline construction and talent training, and the teaching staff can improve their teaching and scientific research standards. The Arm series equipment of the Joint Laboratory are used to support the university's construction of such courses as mobile computing, digital system design, principle of microcomputer, embedded systems, and digital signal processing. This will enormously promote discipline development and talent training. Both the school and enterprise will abide by the principles of mutual benefit, drawing upon each other's advantages, and joint development. With the Joint Laboratory as a platform, they will integrate and make the most use of their advantageous resources, build an extensive partnership, and strive to realize school-enterprise cooperation and win-win result.

 SUSTech - ZICT Joint Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence

In May 2019, Southern University of Science and Technology signed a cooperation agreement with Shenzhen ZICT Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ZICT) to co-build an SUS Tech - ZICT Joint Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence. The Joint Laboratory was built with the major support of the internationalized, high-standard academic team and substantial scientific research power of the SME SUSTech and ZICT's leading power in intelligent industry "Internet +" platforms and operation services.

Taking the lead in the construction of the Joint Laboratory, SUS Tech provided relevant working environment for the laboratory. It has carried out technical research, follow-up with cutting-edge technologies, strategic consulting, and talent training relevant to the business planning, fundamental research, product R&D, medium-to-long-term plans, and current real demands of ZICT's product department. The core research directions of the Joint Laboratory encompass smart-city-based data in applications in all realms, optimization of AI algorithms, analysis and mining of big data; smart-city-based equipment development in applications in different realms, optimization of ICs and research and implementation of novel circuit models.

With the Joint Laboratory established, the advantageous resources of the SME SUS Tech and ZICT can be fully integrated and exploited, the university's achievements in scientific research can be transformed effectively, and discipline construction, scientific research and talent training will promote as the enterprise improves its strength in innovative technology and realizes sound development. Both the school and enterprise will abide by the principles of mutual benefit, drawing upon each other's advantages, and joint development. With the Joint Laboratory as a platform, they will integrate and make the most use of their own advantageous resources, build an extensive, long-term, stable industry-university-research partnership, and strive to realize school-enterprise cooperation for a win-win result.

SUSTech - Peking University Shenzhen Hospital Joint Laboratory for Biochips

In March 2019, Southern University of Science and Technology signed a cooperation agreement with Peking University Shenzhen Hospital to co-build a SUSTech - PKU Shenzhen Hospital Joint Laboratory for Biochips. The Joint Laboratory was built with the major support of the capacity of the SME SUSTech for scientific research and PKU Shenzhen Hospital's advantages in medical technology and disease resources. Both parties have carried out research and development on key technologies in biochips, basic processes, subdivided domains of medicine (e.g. cancer, cardiovascular disease, etc.) and in other fields of common interest.

Both the school and enterprise will abide by the principles of sincere cooperation, result-oriented, resource sharing, drawing upon each other's advantages, mutual benefit, and joint development. With the Joint Laboratory as a platform, they will exploit their own advantages, build a long-term industry-university-research partnership, and strive to realize school-enterprise cooperation for a win-win result. They will build the Joint Laboratory into an innovative manufacturing platform for scientific research, industrial technology R&D and integration, talent training, application demonstration, and achievement transformation, etc. 

SUS Tech - Longsys Joint Laboratory for Storage

In September 2019, Southern University of Science and Technology signed a cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Longsys Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Longsys) to co-build an SUS Tech - Longsys Joint Laboratory for Storage. The Joint Laboratory was built with the major support of the internationalized, high-standard academic team and the substantial scientific research power of the SME SUS Tech and Longsys' strengths in technological R&D and production in storage industry.

The construction of the Joint Laboratory for Storage has been completed thanks to the equipment donated by Longsys. It will rely on the SME to establish an packaging platform of SUS Tech to carry out research on wafer thinning + TSV & 3D packaging, 3D packaging, next-generation packaging products in cooperation with Longsys, microwave RF packaging + electric device packaging, fan-out packaging, and in SiP & Chiplet domain.

With the Joint Laboratory established, the advantageous resources of the SME SUS Tech and Longsys Corp. can be fully integrated and exploited, the university's achievements in scientific research can be transformed effectively, and discipline construction, scientific research and talent training will be further promoted as the enterprise improves its strength in innovative technology and realizes sound development.
